Section of sensation extends woven textiles as wall devices to an unfolding and enfolding envelope across three surfaces/planes of a room. ‘Section’ refers to an architectural device that enables the visibility of relations between inside and outside. Outside is folded inside: arid Australian exteriors that shimmer with simmering light; the colours and patterns of Flinders Ranges stone and waterholes coupled with the garden and canal in Venice. The tonal qualities of the black pavilion’s exterior manifest in the base work of the tapestry and transform into depthless colour, intensifying in moments where light illuminates the woven strip, on floor/ ground/pool, wall/crevice/ledge and ceiling/sky.
